Welcome to "Saggy Bottoms". Based in Brora in the Scottish Highlands, Fred Sutherland (right) has been re-uphostering since 1978. He served a grueling 5 year apprenticeship under the watchful eye of George Thom and, on George's retiral, Fred bought the business. Since then, he has not only carried on the tradition of high quality workmanship using the skills taught to him, but is also passing those skills to his eldest son Graeme.

Traditional upholstery skills include the total rebuilding of seating, arms and backs, using horse hair and hand stitching, taking pieces back to their original glory using fabrics suitable for the individual piece of furniture.

Although specialising in antique work, re-upholstery of anything you can sit on is undertaken. All enquiries are dealt with personally by Fred - from initial contact, viewing of seating, advice on choosing fabrics to completion of the contract.

On the commercial side, "Saggy Bottoms" are highly sought after for the total refurbishment of lounges and bars and have the services of a skilled carpenter to undertake any woodwork required.
